Arkan means Pillars. The foundations that hold everything up — for our clients, their families, and the generations after.
Where Wealth Finds Its Foundation
Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Arkan Wealth
Arkan is Arabic for pillars — the load-bearing elements, the parts of a structure that decide whether it survives a century or a season. Karan Walia named the firm deliberately. Indian wealth has never had a shortage of ambition. What it lacks is architecture.
His training came from private equity and investment banking, across transactions exceeding $2.7 billion in Indian, US, European and GCC markets. Institutional capital operates on a discipline retail investors rarely encounter — no position is taken until the business beneath it has been dismantled and understood. Most individuals invert this entirely. They commit capital first and construct the reasoning afterwards.
Arkan exists to reverse that order. Every engagement opens with the client's balance sheet, not with a recommendation. Founders holding illiquid equity through a liquidity event, senior professionals whose net worth is dangerously concentrated in one employer's stock, families thinking across generations rather than quarters — the work is identical in each case. Establish what is genuinely owned, what it is exposed to, and what it is silently costing.
In an industry that mistakes motion for progress, Arkan is built for the opposite. Portfolios engineered to hold. Because families who remain wealthy are almost never the ones who moved fastest. They are the ones who built on something that bore weight.
Selection at Arkan runs three layers deep, and the work happens before a single recommendation is made.
Every allocation begins with where the cycle actually is — rate direction, currency, credit spreads, commodity shocks and global liquidity. A portfolio built for falling rates is the wrong portfolio for rising ones, and most investors discover this only after the damage is done.
Sector positioning is derived, never assumed. We map where earnings are genuinely expanding against where multiples have simply run, because those two things are frequently unrelated.
This is where most firms stop and Arkan begins. Every fund is examined at the security level — its actual underlying positions, its overlap with the rest of the client's portfolio, how much of its return came from manager skill rather than beta, how it behaved in prior drawdowns, manager tenure, style drift, and the complete cost stack including tax friction and exit loads.
Two funds in the same category routinely hold near-identical books at materially different costs. One is a genuine allocation. The other is an expensive duplicate. Nothing on a ranking table reveals which is which.
Portfolios engineered to hold.
Portfolios where every position exists for a stated reason, and where the client can be told precisely what that reason is.
Global exposure treated as structural rather than optional, because wealth concentrated in one country and one currency is not diversified — it is undiversified with extra steps.
Restraint where restraint is warranted. A substantial share of wealth is surrendered to activity that merely felt productive.
